With all the drama this season on Farmer Wants A Wife, it’s only natural that some of the smaller details have gotten lost. However, I didn’t think that included a whole farmer’s plotline…
Now, I know I’m not the only one thinking it, but where was Farmer Jarrad this season, and why did it feel like his edit was even shorter than the ad breaks?
Look, to be fair, there’s been a lot going on – from Miranda wreaking havoc, Alex leaving early with Eddy, and Ally turning into a runaway bride to shock exits, intruders, and some seriously spicy challenges.
As Dylan’s various make-out sessions have gone on for what feels like 20 minutes a pop, Jarrad’s edit has been reduced to an awkward intimacy test, one helicopter ride and two dramatic shots of him watching his eliminated contestants, Carly and Christina, drive away in the night.
It was these departures on Monday night that reminded viewers Jarrad was still there.
“He let Carly do the heavy lifting during the break up,” one fan wrote after Carly’s tearful goodbye. “What a guy.”
“At least he opened his mouth and spoke the second time around,” another commented, referencing how little he spoke when sending previous contestants home.
‘We’ve been a bit shocked by how little’s been shown’
As I was left scratching my head wondering if Jarrad’s edit had hitched a ride in Carly and Christina’s car, Farmer Zac and Alex assured me I wasn’t the only one who noticed that quite a lot got cut from the final edit this season.
After chatting with the farmers throughout the season, one recurring piece of feedback stood out: so much goes unseen on screen, from quality behind-the-scenes moments to off-camera conversations and group chats.
“I would say what has surprised me – and I think the sentiment has been echoed around the other lads in interviews – is that there’s been a lot of air time for one person and not much for everyone else,” Alex told WHO. “So we’ve been a bit shocked by how little’s been shown.”
“It’s a hard watch,” Zac seconded. “There are a lot of things that happened that they don’t show, and I feel like that’s where you can build some connections as well, and sometimes the audience doesn’t get to see that.”
I’m sure Jarrad’s been feeling this lack of spotlight more than the other “lads”; however, given the drama this season, I’m not so sure that’s been a bad thing for his reputation.
