“Are they even real farmers?”

It’s a predictable question that pops up every season of Farmer Wants A Wife. Still, recent photos and videos of Farmer Zac and Dylan working as tradies are doing little to squash the accusations.

With the reunion episode fast approaching and fans desperate to know if the farmers are still with their chosen women (with Zac and Maya looking like the strongest pair), interest has intensified on the contestants once again.

Potentially, in a stroke of genius marketing, O’Brien Electrical and Air Conditioning Mount Barker shared photos and videos of Zac working as one of their sparkys.

Photos of Dylan posing on a plumbing website have also surfaced.

Cue an onslaught of comments and confusion.

Farmer Wants A Wife fans aren’t happy about Zac’s day job

The photos and videos of the apple farmer working as an electrician started to circulate this month, and fans initially stopped to inspect them in confusion.

Some remarked at how much the worker was the “spitting image of Zac” until, quickly, they realised that it was indeed the apple farmer.

“So not a full-time farmer after all,” one viewer wrote.

“And we thought he was a farmer, eh,” another said.

However, others were quick to jump in and point out that apple farming is seasonal work, so during the off-season, it’s not unheard of for farmers to seek additional work to supplement their income.

WHO understands this is the case with Zac, who is very busy during harvest time, but works as a sparky during the quieter side of the year.

He’s been working with the company since June 2024.

Farmer Dylan also works a trade

Zac isn’t the only farmer who was recently spotted in the wild west of the internet with a tool in his hand.

Photos of Farmer Dylan (who ended up with Ally) were spotted on the Free Flow Plumbing website, and he looks very different than he does on the show (so much so, that here in the WHO office, one of my colleagues thought the photos must have been of his brother).

Smiling as a fourth-year plumbing apprentice, his bio describes him as a tradie who “enjoys copper work, and a wide variety of jobs and locations involved in plumbing”. He also “is good at hot and colds”.

Admittedly, I don’t really know what that means, but fair play to him.

Farmer Alex responds to accusations he’s ‘not a real farmer’

While we don’t know about any additional work that Farmer Alex does, we do know that he doubled down on the rumours that the men aren’t real farmers with a healthy dose of humour.

At the start of the season, the beef and mushroom farmer told WHO he was a “paid actor”.

“I’m not a real farmer… The people that own the farm that I work at pay me to act as a farmer. I don’t do any work,” he said.

When asked what his friends think of him being on the show, he said with a laugh, “Well, they don’t mind, because I’m acting, so it’s just part of the job.”

Another day, another reality TV show rumour put to bed!
