“To me, the idea of being famous is irritating,” Bündchen, 35, told The New York Times. “The attention is strange. Everyone has an opinion.”
Before she dominated the modeling world for 21 years, the mother of two faced harsh criticism and rejection.
“My career was never based on pretty,” the Brazilian beauty continued. “In the beginning, you know, everyone told me, ‘Your eyes are too small, the nose is too big, you can never be on a magazine cover.’ But, you know what? The big nose is coming with a big personality.”
Luckily, Gisele developed a tough skin during her childhood, though she thought “bullying was just the way life is.” As the 5′ 11″ model explained, “Even before I got into the business, I was used to being bullied because I was always tall and skinny and stuck out.”
Adding, “I got really red all the time from playing volleyball, red like a pepper. So I thought bullying was just the way life is.”
Bündchen previously Who she turned to her family for advice. “It wasn’t easy to be 14 and hear that kind of criticism. It made me feel insecure,” she said. “At that point I felt, if I kept working hard and giving my best, it would all work out.”
And it certainly did. The wife of Tom Brady persevered to become one of the most sought-after faces in fashion. “I always knew that, even if I was not the most beautiful girl, I’d be the most energetic and hard-working,” Bündchen shared. “If you want to know the truth, that’s the reason for my success.”
