After 12 weeks of amazing transformations, emotional makeovers and tearful eliminations, Toad and Mandy and Mel and Dave were left to battle it out for the winning prize of $355,000.
The two couples had to makeover each other’s front yards in just four days and would be scored by only the judges.
Like most renovations, it wasn’t smooth all smooth sailing, especially for Toad and Mandy who arrived on site on the final day to discover their fence paint was ruined by dew over night, causing the paint to run.
The front yard makeover for Mel and Dave wasn’t an easy one either. Under serious time pressure, the couple had to sacrifice painting the balustrade so they had more time to focus on other design elements.
“We have to choose the swinging chair… without that it will just be an empty left side of the veranda,” Mel said.
Both teams got there in the end and were very happy with the yards that were created for them.
Following the complete renovation, Mel and Dave’s home has been valued at $1,070,000 (originally valued at $625,000).
Toad and Mandy’s final assessment came to a value of $1,100,000 (originally $850,000).
But despite the incredible valuations and team feedback, the final decision of who will win House Rules 2018 was up to the judges Wendy Moore, Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen and Drew Heath.
Toad and Mandy were scored the highest, named the House Rules champions for 2018!
