While promoting his upcoming film Alice Through the Looking Glass in London on Sunday, Johnny Depp couldn’t resist an opportunity to get in a quick dig at Australia’s expense.
Attending a photo call alongside Australian Mia Wasikowska, the actor opened with this line, ““I’m gonna do this everywhere I go” before somewhat awkwardly adding, “I would really like to apologise for not smuggling my dogs into England because it would have been a bad thing to do, because the Australians, though…they’re chipper.”
Several weeks ago, Depp’s wife Amber Heard faced charges after she brought pet terriers Pistol and Boo into the Gold Coast without a custom’s clearance. In a bid to avoid her doing jail time for illegal importation, Depp and Heard did a deal with the government and filmed this very awkward video, which has since gone viral.
