Her husband John was left partially paralyzed following a life-threatening fall earlier this year.
And Australian TV personality Kerri-Anne Kennerley has admitted that her 2012 breast cancer diagnosis was easier to deal with than seeing John, 75, endure a spinal injury, following the tragic accident.
In a heartbreaking interview with The Daily Telegraph, the 62-year-old confessed: “I got breast cancer … but I handled that much better than John has this.”
She went on to explain: “This has been soul-destroying with John because I was lucky in a sense to get it early… and got better. This with John is never going to get any better. It will always be this way.”
However, despite the heartbreaking reality for her family, Kerri-Anne continues to remain strong.
“At the same time, you’ve just got to just get on with it,” she stated.
John was rushed to intensive care after suffering injuries when he fell backwards while posing for photographs at a golfing event in March.
Kerri-Anne has kept vigil by her husband’s side since the accident, with the pair celebrating their 32nd wedding anniversary last week at the Prince Of Wales hospital in Randwick, where John is being treated.
“We have had a wonderful 32 years together. Can’t wait until he comes home at the end of the year,” Kerri-Anne wrote underneath an Instagram photo of the couple who wed in 1984.
