And it’s not the first time the controversial star, who hosts his show with Jackie O on rival station KIIS FM 106.5, has taken a swipe at his former employer and his ‘loser’ radio rivals.
“When our competition fails and they keep replacing show after show after show on 2Day FM, I laugh all day until I fall asleep,” he admitted earlier this year.

Ignoring Kyle’s snide swipe, Denyer took to Instagram to make light of his axing.
“Well that was bloody fun,” said the sacked host. “It’s nice to join an elite group of people who have been sacked from radio.”

Rumours the once-popular program was set to be axed spread like wildfire last month when the radio survey showed the program’s dwindling ratings. Earlier this year, 2Day FM Breakfast with Grant, Ed & Ash fell 1.1% in the last survey to just 3.1% audience share. 2Day FM has gone through six breakfast teams in six years since the departure of Kyle and Jackie O to KIIS FM.
The announcement comes months after TV BlackBox claimed Denyer’s future on the airwaves was up in the air as Channel Ten was in the midst of “fighting” with the breakfast program’s parent company, Southern Cross Austereo, for exclusive rights to the beloved Australian personality.
Although Denyer has delivered the biggest audience in the breakfast time slot since the departure of Kyle and Jackie O, his wife and manager Chezzie Denyer revealed in July that they were still deciding whether he would return next year to co-host the Em, Grant & Ed show.
“Grant likes radio and he’s proud of the growth of 2Day FM Breakfast. Although his contract is up at the end of the year, it is a major commitment so we haven’t made any decisions about next year,” she said at the time.
