It feels as though this year’s Bachelor, Locky Gilbert, and his winner, Irena Srbinovska, have been dropping engagement clues since the final rose was handed out.

The latest hint that Locky may have already put a ring on it, however, is much less subtle.

In an Instagram story that’s about as subtle as a brick to the face, the 31-year-old adventure tour guide share a snap with Irena talking to her family on a video call.

“Happy birthday to my future father-in-law,” the happy snap was captioned.

He then added: “Can’t wait to for another challenge but this time in person and don’t think a little surgery will get you out of it haha.”

This certainly isn’t the first time the lovebirds have sparked engagement rumours.

After holidaying on Rottnest Island and sharing an adorable snap with a quokka, the island’s tourism account seemingly spoilt the news Locky had popped the question while there.

“When on Rotto, one must get a quokka selfie #quokkaselfie,” Locky captioned it, prompting Rottnest Island Tourism to comment: “Congratulations on your engagement! That’s one ‘Locky’ quokka.”

The nurse only added fuel to the fire when she posted a picture of them enjoying sweeping ocean views passionately locking lips.

The couple had to clear up speculation soon after thanks to a flood of congratulations and well-wishes, assuring fans they were not, in fact, engaged.

Speaking exclusively to Who, the former Bachie confirmed a diamond ring was definitely in his future plans.

“We have definitely spoken about our future plans of marriage, it’s on the cards but for now we are happy with our plans of travelling around Australia,” Locky says.

“But when does happen I’m sure I will do something crazy to pop the question.”

Locky and Irena’s love story wasn’t your typical romance, seeing as it kicked off in the midst of a global pandemic.

Shortly after their Bachelor journey came to an end, the couple made the move to Locky’s hometown of Perth but had to undergo two weeks of mandatory hotel quarantine.

“Worst part of hotel quarantine was not being able to physically leave your room, like you are so close yet so far!” Locky says.

“The best part was the fact that Irena and I got time to ourselves without any distractions for two weeks.”
