It’s finally Family and Friends week for MAFS. However, while the OG couples deal with tensions (or exes *cough cough* Scott) that may be bubbling under the surface, the intruder couples are kickstarting Crash Course week, with one couple in particular leaving fans undecided about whether they have the “ick”.
On March 2, intruder couple Juliette and Joel commenced the week with Juliette confronting Joel about a video of him drumming that her friend sent her way.
Fair enough too, as the video had some…well, odd elements.

However, fans are undecided about whether Juliette is writing Joel off too soon, hinting that she may be a “Mel 2.0″, as one user commented.
It just begs the question, once you get the ‘ick’, can you ever lose it?
What happened in THAT drumming video?
Warning: contains graphic content!
In the YouTube clip that Juliette’s friend shared with her, Joel is pictured sitting at a drum kit, playing along to the 2003 hit song ‘Stacy’s Mom’ by Fountains of Wayne.
However, instead of using drumsticks, the model is playing with two d–dos, one black and one white.
The aspiring drummer (and comedian apparently) shared the video in September 2024, titling it “Fountains of Wayne – Stacy’s Mom ft. Interracial D–dos.”
He captioned the post, “I lost my drumsticks, so I asked Stacy’s Mom if I could use hers.”
Yeah, I would get the ick too…
When Juliette asked her husband about the video, he responded with a laugh, claiming it was just some “harmless humour” and a “bit of fun.”
Well, Juliette is certainly not laughing.
Instead, she admitted to producers that she’s “embarrassed” and “icked out” by Joel’s attempt at humour, revealing that her initial fears about Joel after their wedding have been reaffirmed.
Ever since their wedding ceremony, Juliette has struggled to get past some of the comments he made, particularly his dependency on his childhood teddy bear and almost too-close relationship with his mother.
At the commitment ceremony, she opened up with the experts about her doubts, admitting that she wouldn’t give Joel a chance if this was “the outside world.” Ouch.
Now, this resurfaced drumming video is not doing him any favours.
However, is Juliette taking her ‘ick’ one step too far?
Is Juliette being unfair to Joel?
Fans are in two minds about whether Juliette is being a tad too harsh on Joel.
Many fans agree with Juliette, commenting online that “Joel is the biggest ick ever” and admitting that they “would have left the show during the wedding.”
“Yes, there are definitely worse videos out there, however, I think it’s also valid for a girl to not find a joke funny,” one viewer said.

However, other fans think she could be nicer in her approach.
“I thought I’d like Juliette but not Joel and now it’s the opposite,” one user commented. “She’s being horrible for no reason, it’s painful to watch.”
For many fans, Juliette is bringing up memories of Mel’s behaviour towards Luke at the start of the season.
“It seems to me that Juliette came onto MAFS with no intention of giving it a go unless she scored her ‘dream guy’,” one user said.
“Shades of Mel here?”
We’ve got to admit, once we get the ick, it is hard to look past it.
However, perhaps the fans are right, and Juliette needs to give Joel a second chance. Whether she has the energy or care to do so, we’ll just have to wait and see.
