Intimacy Week has arrived on Married At First Sight 2026, and with it, some of the most confronting admissions of the season so far. As the brides gathered for a candid workshop led by expert Alessandra, the mood quickly shifted from hopeful to heartbreaking.
Opening up about closeness, connection and unmet needs, several women revealed cracks in their marriages – but it was Rebecca’s emotional turmoil over Steve that left the room stunned.
Rebecca’s fantasy turns into a nightmare
The couples were tasked with creating their “Ultimate Fantasy Night” – an exercise designed to foster deeper intimacy.
The approaches couldn’t have been more different. Some couples leaned into playful romance, others opted for bold gestures, while a few took more confrontational routes in an attempt to break through emotional walls.
Rebecca decided to visit an adult shop and pick out a “little piece” she’d like to put herself in – showing Steve a sexy “boss b*tch” outfit and a sex whip.
She explained it was one of the “most covered up” options in the shop and gave it to Steve to inspect, asking if he’d like her to put in on.
However, his reaction wasn’t expected, confessing: “I’d rather not. It’s not something, I guess, it’s just not for me.”
Clearly upset that her attempt at intimacy was snubbed, Rebecca asked if he liked lingerie at all.
“When I think of lingerie I don’t think sex shop… Intimacy comes in many shapes and forms. It doesn’t have to be like this immediately.”
To producers, Steve said: “Rebecca and I are a little bit different. Rebecca is… a little bit full on.”

Expert Alessandra’s plea to Rebecca
Rebecca’s heartbreak over Steve’s lack of affection dominated the discussion with Alessandra and the other brides. While others spoke confidently about passion and chemistry, Rebecca admitted she was still waiting for their physical connection to deepen.
Alessandra encouraged her to stop minimising her own needs, gently challenging her to acknowledge that intimacy isn’t something to be brushed aside.

Around the room, there was a stark contrast as Gia spoke openly about her strong physical bonds with her husband, Scott.
Rocky road for Steve and Rebecca after strong start
Steve and Rebecca appeared solid from the start, but during Revelations Week, when the men and women were separated to discuss green and red flags in their relationships, a very different story emerged.
In the grooms’ session, Steve painted a concerning picture of their relationship: “Rebecca is consistently that person, where [she] needs to be talking all the time… you know, there’s no downtime.
“Rebecca’s humour – I don’t understand some of her humour, sometimes it’s got a bit of a sexual innuendo to it, and I’m very conservative, so it just seems rude to me.”
He continued, “Rebecca’s not my usual type, and what I mean by that, is her personality’s less conservative than mine.”
“On top of that… her emotions are very high and very low. I’m not sure what I’m gonna get and that worries me, you kind of lose a bit of trust?”
“Rebecca’s very opinionated, a bit more outspoken, I’m not, I’m almost the opposite of that,” he said.
He later admitted that the affection and intimacy he was currently offering was all he felt able to give.
“It’s just been a lot. Rebecca’s been a lot in general,” Steve added, saying he thought his ‘wife’ needed to “slow it down a bit” and lower her expectations around intimacy.
