In an interview with The Sunday Telegraph, Eve, 36, explained she couldn’t believe she had been nominated after her character Sonya Rebecchi died in an episode that was broadcast in March.
“I died at the end of last year. I am not even on the show anymore. So this nomination came completely out of nowhere,” she told the publication.
“It was a shock for a lot of people including myself. I died. Well my character died, that’s the thing. I died at the end of last year.”
“To be recognised for Gold, it’s crazy,” Eve continued.
But her shock at receiving the Gold Logie nod was overtaken by her amazement that anyone still watched the long-running TV soap, which has been running since 1985.
“I didn’t think people even watched the show,” quipped Eve.
Eve is up against Amanda Keller, Costa Georgiadis, Rodger Corser, Sam Mac, Tom Gleeson and Waleed Aly in the ‘most popular personality on Australian TV’ or ‘Gold Logie’ category.
The winners will be announced on June 30. Good luck, Eve!
