Rachael Carpani from McLeod’s Daughters passes away aged 45

The actress had been battling a chronic illness privately.

In incredibly sad news for the Australian TV industry, popular actor Rachael Carpani has passed away unexpectedly at just 45 years of age.

The tragic news was shared by the actress’s sister, Georgia, on Monday afternoon via an Instagram post in which she revealed Rachael had been battling a chronic illness.

“It is with great sadness that Tony and Gael Carpani announce that their beautiful daughter, beloved Australian actress Rachael Carpani, unexpectedly but peacefully passed away after a long battle with chronic illness, in the early hours of Sunday 7th December,” the post read.

“The family requests privacy at this very difficult time and will be making no further statements.”

In the post, the family confirmed that they will be holding a private funeral for Rachael with close family and friends later this week.

What did Rachael Carpani appear in?

Carpani’s resume included roles in TV show All Saints as well as the film Hating Alison Ashley in which she co-starred with her schoolmate Delta Goodrem.

However, she was best known for her role as Jodi Fountain in the Aussie drama McLeod’s Daughters, which she starred in from 2001 to 2009.

After departing the long-running Aussie series, the Sydney-born performer moved to the U.S. to pursue her career further, appearing in six episodes of NCIS: Los Angeles alongside Chris O’Donnell and LL Cool J.

She also appeared in crime drama Against the Wall and the series 800 Words.

She went on to appear in Home and Away as Claudia Salini from August 2024.

Fans react to Rachael Carpani’s death

Rachael had not posted on her Instagram account since March 9th, 2024, when she shared some photos of herself, referencing that it was her first time back in front of the camera. “No hospital gown, no awesome surgery socks” in the caption.

The post has now been inundated with comments from fans expressing their grief over her passing.

“RIP you absolute angel,” one person wrote. “What a loss.”

“OMG, I’m devastated as a McLeod’s Daughters fan, it feels like the whole show has died. Fly free, beautiful,” another added.

“You will be missed by so many, beautiful,” another shared, while many others said they were “heartbroken” and “in disbelief.”
