The Voice has finally revealed its four finalists for the Grand Finale, and the competition couldn’t be tighter.
The four artists in the running for The Voice crown are Team Kate’s Daisha Auda (QLD), Team Melanie C’s Yung Milla (NT), Team Richard’s Tommy Novak (NSW) and Team Ronan’s The 60Four (SA).
A stand-out performance from the night was Yung Milla’s reimagining of Men At Work’s ‘Land Down Under’ where didgeridoo, choir, and original rap were blended in a performance that Richard Marx described as “revolutionising the genre” of rap.
Despite this immense praise and excitement from the coach, many fans were unhappy with the outcome, particularly as fan-favourite contestants didn’t make it through.
‘I’m not even going to watch the Grand Finale’
There was one contestant in particular who was the centre of fans’ complaints after the Semi Final: 12-year-old The Voice prodigy Leyla Sabo.
The young singer-songwriter immediately blew away both the judges and the audience with her voice and maturity.
However, of course, her age was the centre of many debates, as many viewers were concerned that she was “too young” to be in the industry.
Despite these grumblings, fans grew to love the young contestant, resulting in quite the shock when Ronan Keating selected the boy band The 60Four over her.
“RONAN IS AN IDIOT,” one fan wrote passionately online.
“Very sad that Leyla didn’t go through,” another replied in agreement.
“The group of blokes, The 60Four should not have gone through,” a third chimed in. “Yes, they are good, but they already have a large following and bookings all over the place. Leyla would have been a better choice; she was excellent.”
This snowballed into complaints about every coach’s selection, with many fans threatening to boycott the show entirely.
“Was it just me or did anyone else think the judges chose all the wrong people last night,” one fan wrote online.
“I’m not even going to watch the grand final,” another declared. “Everyone chosen was who I would never have chosen.”
“The ones that went home were sure to be the winners,” a third agreed. “I’m not bothering with the finale.”
Fans defend the coaches’ selection
Despite being heartbroken to see their favourite singers go, many fans defended the judges’ decisions in comment sections online.
“Leyla is incredible but not mentally ready,” one viewer wrote in response to complaints about her snub from the Finale. “Ronan was right in advising her to be a 12-year-old, not a 30-year-old.”
“We see so many times what happens to child prodigies in this industry… very sad but very true. Can’t wait to see her return again at some stage.”
Voting for The Voice 2026 Grand Finale is now open
Given the talent on display this year, the coaches were always going to face a difficult decision.
Now, it’s up to the Australian public.
