Have you ever tried on something from Rebecca Vallance and instantly felt transformed into a princess? Well, that’s hardly a surprise given the fashion brand counts a couple of the real things among their already star-studded client list.

King Charles’ niece Princess Beatrice, 36, stole the show on May 13 when she attended the Elephant Family Wonders of the Wild event at Kew Gardens wearing the Henrietta Button Gown in a striking hue of metallic red.

“It’s always an incredible moment to see the royals in our latest collections,” Rebecca tells WHO of her self-named label. “They always look chic and sophisticated,”

What royals wear Rebecca Vallance?

It isn’t just Princess Beatrice who has been spotted wearing the designer.

Beatrice’s younger sister, Princess Eugenie, 35, looked sensational in a blue- and-white botanical halter number as she publicly donned her first dress from the label at the Chelsea Flower Show in May.

Their untitled cousin Zara Tindall, who is the daughter of Princess Anne, has been wearing Rebecca’s designs for years, both Down Under while visiting the Gold Coast annually for the Magic Millions Carnival and back home in England.

How did Rebecca Vallance start working with the royals?

“We formed a particularly special bond with Zara Tindall, as well as Princess Beatrice, through their stylists initially,” Rebecca explains.

“I can’t pinpoint exactly how and when these relationships began, but we have been dressing Zara Tindall for quite some time. We absolutely love working with their teams on beautiful looks for their special occasions and we never take these moments for granted – the continued support from them has been like no other.”

Rebecca adds that the styling teams for Beatrice and Zara “provide clear and thoughtful briefs tailored to each event”.

“Depending on the occasion and their requirements, we may collaborate on a custom look, or they may select pieces from our latest collection,” she explains. “We then coordinate fittings and final touches, often sending the selected styles to the UK for approval and adjustment.”

Known for its structured yet feminine dresses that create a very polished look, the brand launched with its first show at Paris Fashion Week in 2011.

What impact does royals wearing Rebecca Vallance have on the brand?

Since then, it has gone from strength to strength, boasting a celebrity fan base that is as extensive as it is varied. International stars such as Sofía Vergara, Kris Jenner and Paris Hilton, as well as Australian celebrities like Sylvia Jeffreys and Bec Judd have all been seen wearing Rebecca Vallance creations.

But it is for their aristocratic clientele, who need a wide variety of attire to attend charity events, private functions and royal engagements, that it has really turned out to be the perfect fit.

“I would guess they’re possibly drawn to the brand because of the strong, feminine DNA we stand for – beautiful tailoring with a modern edge, our collections always have a sense of elegance to them,” Rebecca says.

Dressing the royals pays off for the label, too. Each time Zara or Beatrice step out in something from her brand, Rebecca’s label receives the type of advertising that money can’t buy. Images of her clothing are splashed across the glossy pages of magazines and internet news sites, while the cottage industry of royal fashion bloggers, who document every look of the Windsors, shares links to her website so fans can buy the garment for themselves.

Rebecca agrees that the association has had an incredibly “positive impact” on her label.

What are Zara Tindall and Princess Beatrice really like?

The royals’ support of her business has also extended beyond just their sartorial choices. Olympic medal-winning equestrian Zara, 44, attended a VIP breakfast celebrating the relaunch of Rebecca Vallance into Harrods department store in November 2023.

“Zara is an incredibly warm, lovely, genuine, not to mention gorgeous human being,” Rebecca says.

Meanwhile, Beatrice stopped by a cocktail party at The Bar at Gaia in October 2024 for the London launch of the Nicky Hilton for Rebecca Vallance collection.

“Princess Beatrice is lovely as well,” Rebecca says. “She was very kind to attend our event.”

Of royals that she would love to dress in the future, Catherine, the Princess of Wales and Australian-born Queen Mary of Denmark are at the top of her list.

While dressing her royal and celebrity clients is a very important part of the business, when it comes time to sit down and design, Rebecca says her thoughts turn much closer to home rather than Buckingham Palace.

“Overall, we design with the modern woman in mind,” she explains. “We want whoever is wearing our designs to be able to express confidence, elegance and sophistication – whoever that may be.”

Zara Tindall

The niece of King Charles and Olympian certainly looked like a winner when she wore Rebecca Vallance to Royal Ascot in 2024.

Looking elegant in the Michelle Midi Dress, Zara has worn the label more than any other royal.
