Sam Burgess may look like he’s taking fatherhood in his stride, but the footballer has admitted that it’s not as easy as it looks.
The 28-year-old opened up to radio hosts Fitzy & Wippa about his experience as a first time dad to his two-month-old daughter, Poppy.
“They’re so fragile and you’re so protective of them. I’m so big and sometimes clumsy I don’t want to crush her arm or sit on her foot.”
“I’m so nervous. Because I’ve never done this before, I’m more nervous than playing a game of footy,” he added.
He went on to gush about his wife, Phoebe Burgess.
“Phoebe is amazing. She’s a great mother and she has taken to it fantastically,” he said.
The Rabbitohs player then brought up the controversial photo where he carried Poppy in a baby carrier while cooking.
“It’s a house rule! We walk through the door both take our pants off, that’s what we do. It’s nice to give Phoebe a rest, she’d had a big day,” he said.
