While the show may be inspired by creator Belinda Chapple, Belinda told WHO that although the events of the series may have been inspired by her time in Australian girl group Bardot, the events of Paper Dolls are “fiction all the way.”
Despite being a fictional narrative, Paper Dolls is still deeply rooted in the realities of the music industry.
“The element of being sexualised and not taken seriously as a woman is something I, and many people, have faced in the industry,” Paper Dolls star Courtney Monsoma told WHO.
“As much as there are differences, there are quite a few parallels on what it is to be a performer and a woman, which shows how important the messaging is,”
Who is the cast of Paper Dolls?
Paper Dolls will feature an ensemble of upcoming Australian talent.
The season’s five girl band members will be played by Emalia (Australian Gangster), Miah Madden (Redfern Now), Naomi Sequeira (Evermoor Chronicles), Courtney Clarke (Last King of The Cross), and Courtney Monsma (Frozen: The Musical).
