Teresa Giudice‘s father is on the mend.
The Real Housewives of New Jersey star was scheduled to appear on Watch What Happens Live with host Andy Cohen on Wednesday evening but canceled because her dad, Giacinto Gorga, is battling pneumonia and was moved to the intensive care unit of the New Jersey facility, Radar Online reported.
Despite his diagnosis, a source close to the RHONJ star tells PEOPLE that 74-year-old Gorga’s health is improving.
“He is getting better,” the source says.
Adds a second insider: “He is hospitalized with a mild case of pneumonia. He is resting comfortably and the family is looking forward to him coming home shortly.”
And another source confirms “all is well” and it was a “minor” medical issue.
Gorga’s hospitalization comes eight months after his wife, Antonia Gorga, passed away at the age of 66 after her own battle with pneumonia.
“My mother, she fought really hard. But the pneumonia was too hard for her,” Giudice, 45, said through tears on the season 8 premiere in October. “My mom, she was just the most caring, loving mom ever. And she only cared about my brother, me, and my dad. She was an amazing woman. She was pretty amazing.”
“I still can’t believe that she’s not here. I keep expecting that she’s going to come over tomorrow,” she added. “I keep getting depressed. I just feel lost.”
Since her mother’s death, Giudice’s father has been living with the Bravo personality and her four daughters.
“It’s been a month since my mom passed, and my dad’s still feeling kind of lost. I see him cry every day, and I want to make things better, but there’s no way to make things better. She’s not here,” Giudice said on the premiere episode.
“On the way here, Daddy was crying,” she told her brother and fellow RHONJ star Joe Gorga, who helped pack up the home his father stayed in with late wife Antonia. “Every time he walks in, he sees Mommy. He wants to stay close.”
For his birthday in September, Giudice posted a heartfelt birthday tribute to Instagram, in which she thanked her father “for being my rock & everyday showing me how to be strong and always loving. I love you so much! So glad you are by my side, my girls are so lucky to have you!”
