Who are Maddy and Charlotte from The Block?

Maddy and Charlotte are sisters from Sydney who competed on The Block in 2024.

At the time, Maddy was 24 and Charlotte was 22, making them the youngest contestants to compete on the show. Maddy had an accounting degree, while Charlotte had a Bachelor of Business.

Despite being relative newcomers to the show, the sisters were already experienced renovators. They bought their first property together in Newcastle in 2020, when they were just 21 and 19, and spent two years renovating it while juggling study and work.

They had also bought more properties together before joining The Block, with the sisters documenting their renovation journey online.

So, while they were young, Maddy and Charlotte definitely weren’t walking onto The Block without any idea what they were doing.

How did Maddy and Charlotte end up on The Block?

Their journey began in pretty chaotic fashion. Maddy and Charlotte joined the competition in Week 5 after Perth couple Jesse and Paige unexpectedly left House 1. The sisters received a call from producers just 24 hours before they were due to arrive, meaning they had to pack their bags and jump straight into the competition.

They were suddenly taking over a house that was already well into its renovation. Some layouts had already been decided and work was underway, with the sisters admitting they felt completely overwhelmed when they first arrived.

Still, they quickly found their feet.

Their first room designed entirely from scratch was a guest ensuite, which they won. The judges also praised their ability to stay calm under pressure, with Marty Fox pointing to their house-flipping experience as a reason they appeared to take to The Block so quickly.

Why was there so much drama around Maddy and Charlotte?

The sisters’ time on The Block wasn’t exactly drama-free.

Some of the other contestants questioned whether Maddy and Charlotte had an advantage because of their previous renovation experience. The pair had initially introduced themselves through their professional backgrounds, with their fellow contestants later discovering they had already flipped properties.

That sparked plenty of tension inside the houses, with some contestants accusing the sisters of not being upfront about their experience. Maddy and Charlotte pushed back against the criticism and later spoke about feeling isolated and unsupported during their time on the show.

The drama became particularly intense when Kylie and Brad refused to congratulate the sisters after one of their wins. Maddy later described the atmosphere as “hostile” and said the pair felt like the new kids at school who were never really welcomed into the group.

They did, however, find support from fellow Block alumni Eliza and Liberty, who the sisters credited with helping them through some of the tougher moments.

They did indeed. Their coastal-inspired Phillip Island home sold for a whopping $3.5 million at auction, giving them a $1.55 million profit, plus the $100,000 winner’s prize, taking their total winnings to $1.65 million.

It was an especially impressive result considering the sisters had only taken over House 1 in Week 5.

Their winning auction was also one of the most memorable of the season. Maddy and Charlotte chose to go last, with Adrian Portelli ultimately placing a huge $1 million bid that took the house from $2.5 million to $3.5 million.

The result made Maddy and Charlotte the youngest winners in The Block’s history.

What happened to Maddy and Charlotte after The Block?

After their huge win, the sisters planned to put their winnings towards another renovation project. And they did exactly that.

Maddy and Charlotte continued their house-flipping journey and launched a YouTube series called The Challenge House, documenting their attempt to renovate an entire property in just 13 weeks.

The sisters had already been working on multiple properties before The Block, so their post-show projects were a pretty natural next step. They also continued sharing their renovation journey online, building on the audience they had picked up during their time on the show.
