Bride and Prejudice: Angie’s dad John comes under attack

Bride and Prejudice promised its viewers this season was its most controversial to date, and it did not disappoint.

In the premiere episode, Ange and Dylan share the news that they plan to tie the knot, but Ange’s religious dad John is completely against the idea.

The father-of-three referred to their relationship as a “sin” and even compared homosexuality to incest.

Outraged viewers took to Twitter to slam John for his views towards same-sex marriage.

Despite facing mass backlash, some viewers expressed empathy for John and his difficult situation, with one saying she felt “sorry and sad” for the father.

I don’t feel anger or resentment towards John for his beliefs. I feel sorry and sad for him. He clearly loves his daughter but what turmoil he must be in. Ange and Dylan are such strong women and represent what so many LGBT couples have to go through. #BrideandPrejudice
