Whether you love it or hate it, you can’t deny that Friends was one of the most influential TV shows, not just of the ‘90s, but of all time. It gave us classic lines such as “Smelly Cat”, “we were on a break!”, and all of the insane Hollywood cameos (Brad Pitt, anyone?).

But beyond the quotable lines and hilarious characters, Friends also blessed us with some of the most iconic looks of the ‘90s and early 2000s, brought to you by none other than resident fashion expert and trendsetter Rachel Green. Let’s take a look at some of Rachel’s best outfits from the show.

Rachel Green: The Heart Of Friends

ennifer Aniston played Rachel on Friends for all 10 seasons of the show. Rachel was an old high school friend of Monica (played by Courtney Cox) and Ross (played by David Schwimmer) and was known for her good looks, wealthy family, popularity and incredible sense of style.

Throughout the show’s run, Rachel had one of the most dramatic character developments, going from spoiled and snooty rich girl to a loving mother and kind friend. She also was one half of the famous Ross-Rachel pairing. In Season 8, Rachel gets pregnant and gives birth to Emma, the first official child from one of the friends.

Rachel Green’s Outfits: A ‘90s Fashion Icon

Even from the first episode, it’s obvious that Rachel has a great sense of style (as do her sisters on the show, so it seems like it runs in the family). Her look inspired millions of women and girls around the world. In fact, her character was so influential, the ‘Rachel haircut’ (her hairstyle from the show’s earlier seasons) became one of the most sported ‘dos of the ‘90s.

Compared to Monica’s practical style and Phoebe’s eccentric aesthetic, Rachel was undeniably the most trendy of the three women. Her love for fashion went beyond her impeccable wardrobe, too. Rachel starts out as a waitress in the first few seasons, but soon gets a job in the fashion industry. She works her way up to a personal shopper position at Bloomingdale’s before landing her dream job as an executive at Ralph Lauren.
