Have you ever, ever felt like this? Wondered, ‘where are they now?’ about the cast of Round The Twist?
If you were asked to think of a TV show that defined your Aussie childhood, we reckon you’d be hard pressed to not say Round The Twist.
The beloved ’90’s classic about a family – single father Tony, twins Linda and Pete, and little brother, Bronson – living in a lighthouse on the southwest Victorian coast.
Each episode, the kids encountered all sorts of the surreal and supernatural, from a tree spirit that impregnates whoever urinates on its tree, to a magical chap-stick that makes every woman fall under your love spell, quickly making it a fan favourite among kids then and now.
Penned by Australian children’s author Paul Jennings, it was *the* children’s show, weird, wonderful and whimsical.
But, more bizarrely, it was the only show we can think of that had all of its main characters recast with different actors throughout the series – sometimes twice!
So, with the final episode officially reaching its 20 year anniversary this year, let’s take a moment to check on the cast – and recast – of Round The Twist and see where are they now. Fair warning, some of them have just ~vanished~.
Sam Vandenberg – Pete Twist
In Round The Twist, Sam played the original Pete Twist from 1989 to 1990. Since appearing on the show, the 47-year-old has starred in Blue Heelers (1994) and an episode of Spicks and Specks (2005)
Ben Thomas – Pete Twist
Ben Thomas played the second version of Pete Twist in the series’s second season in 1992. Then, the actor went on to appear in 11 episodes of Neighbours as Sean Slater (1993), and minor roles in Blue Heelers (1996) and The Genie From Down Under 2 (1998)
Rian McLean – Pete Twist
Rian McLean is most likely the Pete Twist you remember most. The actor, who later on went to briefly appear in Home and Away, was on Round The Twist for the last two seasons. But, after an internet deep dive, we confess we couldn’t find a single bit of info on where he is now.
Tamsin West – Linda Twist
Tamsin portrayed Linda Twist in the first season of Round The Twist in 1990. She also sang the iconic theme, which she recreated in the modern day below.

Joelene Crnogorac – Linda Twist
Taking from Tamsin was Joelene Crnogorac who played Linda in season two.
The now 42-year-old actress is still making a name for herself, appeared in Ocean Girl (1994) and 2020’s All the Way to the Top, as well as being a mum. According to IMDB, she has been married to Sam Howden since November 2009.
Ebonnie Masini – Linda Twist
Ebonnie Masini played Linda Twist for the last two seasons of Round The Twist, meaning you probably recognise her the most.
In 2015, she and her friend Natasha Chernov Homann founded Masini & Chern – later renamed as MASINI – an Australian ethically made sleepwear, loungewear and bedding brand.
In an article about the partnership, Ebonnie is referred to with a hyphened surname – Masini-Thomson – so it’s likely she got married, too.
Rodney McLennan – Bronson Twist
Rodney McLennan played the first iteration of the young, impish little brother Bronson in 1990. But, after his stint on the show, the OG Brons faded into obscurity.
Unlike some of his other cast-mates, Rodney has no LinkedIn, no Twitter, not even a Facebook page. So, it took an ABC podcast investigation to find him and discover he’s just an everyday bloke.
“I was no longer a cute kid,” he told the ABC about falling out of acting. “I stopped meeting the preconceived notions of what they were looking for.”
Jeffrey Walker – Bronson Twist
Taking the reigns of Bronson was Jeffrey Walker in season two of Round The Twist in 1993.
Since then, Walker has perhaps come out of the show as its biggest and brightest star, directing films like Riot and Lambs of God and even nine episodes of Modern Family.

Matthew Waters – Bronson Twist
Like Ebbonie and Rian, Matthew Waters is probably your go-to when you think of Bronson Twist having played the character the longest. The actor, who according to the ABC now lives in the UK and works in film and musical theatre, played Bronson in the last two seasons. But, looking at these pair of pics, it seems that he’s had a dramatic transformation.
Richard Moir – Tony Twist
Richard Moir played Tony, the father of the Twist family, for its first two seasons.
But, tragically, the now 71-year-old actor was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease while filming the show and retired from acting shortly after the second season wrapped up.
Andrew S. Gilbert – Tony Twist
When Richard Moir was suddenly struck with Parkinson’s Disease and could no longer perform as Tony, Andrew S. Gilbert jumped in.
The beloved Aussie actor has gone on to appear in Please Like Me, Kiss or Kill – where he won an award for at The Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts Awards – and more.
