Reports have been bubbling away for a while now claiming there’s a feud going on between everyone’s favourite Spice Girl, Victoria Beckham, and her daughter-in-law, Nicola Peltz.
While rumours of the feud have lived mostly on the internet, Nicola has finally taken the time to address them with Brooklyn, her new husband and Victoria’s son, in an interview with Variety.
“I’ve learned they’re always going to try to write stuff like that,” Brooklyn told the publication.
“They’re always going to try and put people down. But everyone gets along, which is good,” he confirmed.
Addressing rumours that a fight began when Nicola opted to not wear one of Victoria’s designs on her wedding day, Nicola confirmed this was not the case.
“I was going to and I really wanted to, and then a few months down the line, she realized that her atelier couldn’t do it, so then I had to pick another dress,” she told the magazine.
“She didn’t say you can’t wear it; I didn’t say I didn’t want to wear it. That’s where it started, and then they ran with that.”
However, it seems the rumours will live on for some time, having been cemented in the press by comments from inside sources.
While the rift is traced back to the wedding, all of Victoria’s commentary about her son’s partner was very positive up until that point.
Brooklyn Beckham met Nicola Peltz, an actress, in 2019, with the pair making their relationship Instagram-official in January 2020.
And it didn’t take long for them to get engaged, with Brooklyn announcing he’d put a ring on Nicola in July the same year.
“I am the luckiest man in the world. I promise to be the best husband and the best daddy one day ❤️ I love you baby xx,” he wrote on Instagram.
While the engagement seemed very hasty, Victoria reiterated her support for her son at the time, and sang Nicola’s praises in an interview.
“[Nicola] is just wonderful,” she said during a December 2020 appearance on the talk show Lorraine.
“She’s sweet, she’s kind, she’s such a lovely, warm, wonderful woman. We couldn’t have asked for Brooklyn to meet a more adorable, lovely lady. We are very happy. We love her. He’s so happy,” she revealed.
This attitude continued across a slew of loving posts from Victoria over the following year, but it seems the attitude changed in the months that passed Brooklyn and Nicola tied the knot.

While the rumours were just that, rumours, eagle-eyed fans spotted a number of blunders that pointed to a feud in the family.
While Nicola addressed her decision to not wear a dress designed by Victoria for the wedding, the wedding actually spanned three days and multiple events, giving her ample opportunity.
Sources also revealed that Beckham input was not really welcome throughout the wedding, and that Victoria and David were not invited to sit at the top table during the reception.
Instead, it was filled by Nicola’s parents and her siblings.
“The top table was all Peltz’s and it really felt as though the Beckhams were not at the forefront,” a source revealed to The Daily Mail.
“There was a feeling that the wedding was all about the Peltz family, as you can imagine, as it was their house and their daughter and their son making the speeches,” the source added.
As pictures from the wedding began to appear on Nicola’s social media, there were no likes from Victoria or David.
And it seems Brooklyn’s closeness with Nicola’s family might be causing other issues for the family.

Brooklyn decided to take Nicola’s family name, becoming Brooklyn Peltz Beckham. He even got ‘Peltz’ tattooed on his chest, a picture of which Nicola shared on her Instagram stories.
“I’m so happy you’re a Peltz,” she captioned the image.
She also spoke of Brooklyn’s close relationship with her father in an interview with Tatler earlier this year.
“I watch him call my dad and say: ‘What do you think about this?’,” she revealed.
While the chat with Variety seemed to clear up any inkling that the women might be at war, fans have still kept a close eye on all parties involved. And by April 2023, it seems like all premonitions of a feud are out the window, with Victoria taking to Instagram to share a sweet message for Brooklyn and Nicola’s wedding anniversary.
“So special to be together to celebrate your 1st wedding anniversary 💕 we love you,” Victoria captioned a photo of her, David, Brooklyn and Nicola.
