Countless think pieces, tweets and viral TikToks made one thing clear: people were intrigued. And how could they not be?
The turbulent love story of Pamela Anderson and Tommy Lee captivated tabloids for decades. And the casting choices of Lily James and Sebastian Stan proved to be perfect when the those initial images were unveiled.
It doesn’t hurt that both James and Stan have their own viral staying power, with the Gen Z and millennial overlords of the internet obsessed with making Mamma Mia and Winter Soldier edits of both stars.
The good news is that fans will be able to catch the biopic in Australia, thanks to Disney Plus bringing the series Down Under. If you’re not already signed up, you can do so here.

The biopic – which tracks their marriage and the saga of a stolen sex tape – picked up traction thanks to the bang-on transformation of the leading stars, with support from the real-life Tommy Lee for his story to be told.
“I think a lot of people would think that it’s one thing, but it’s really about privacy and how things got crazy then. And there’s different laws now,” he said in an interview with Entertainment Tonight.
“The story is actually cool. What actually happened wasn’t. I feel like it was forever ago, but it’s a cool story and people need to know.”
Anderson, however, was on the opposite end of the spectrum and called it a “cheap knockoff” in a statement via her rep.
“Pamela has no intention of watching this God awful show, absolutely not. Never,” her rep told The Sun. “She’s never heard of the actors playing her or Tommy and doesn’t care to know them… She and her family think the show is a cheap knockoff.”
Who is in the Pam & Tommy cast?
James and Stan star as Anderson and Lee, transforming their looks significantly to resemble the iconic stars in the ’90s.
While Stan dyed his hair jet black and donned fake tattoos for the role, Anderson’s transformation was achieved with the use of prosthetics and make-up for an uncanny resemblance.
Seth Rogen (Superbad) stars as Rand Gauthier, an electrician who was fired by Lee in 1995 and went on to plot an elaborate scheme to rob the Mötley Crüe drummer. When he stole a safe from the newlywed couple’s Malibu home, he wound up with their sex tape in his possession.
Having worked in porn before becoming an electrician, Rand used his connections to release the tape – which led to a years long legal battle for the couple as they attempted to have it removed from circulation and later sued for financial compensation.
Taylor Schilling (Orange Is The New Black) stars as Rand’s wife Erica Gauthier. Nick Offerman (Parks and Recreation) stars as Milton Owen Ingley AKA Uncle Miltie, a famous pornographic actor, producer, and director.
While Jason Mantzoukas (The Good Place, Brooklyn Nine Nine) will play a voiceover of “Tommy’s penis” – so make of that what you will.
When does Pam & Tommy premiere?
