For years, Brooklyn Beckham remained silent on the rift between himself and his famous family.
However, that all changed on January 19 when the 26-year-old laid it all on the table in a six-page Instagram story.
Now, sources are coming out and saying there was a reason the eldest son of David and Victoria Beckham chose to bite the bullet and air his family’s dirty laundry.
What did Brooklyn say?
The nepo baby shocked his 16.9 million followers by publishing a lengthy and emotionally charged statement on the social media app defending his wife, actress Nicola Peltz.
The post marked Brooklyn’s first direct and public response to years of speculation surrounding tensions within the Beckham family.

In it, he accused his parents of being “performative,” spreading “countless lies,” and “trying endlessly to ruin my relationship since before my wedding” which took place in April 2022.
Despite persistent public scrutiny over his relationship with his parents, Brooklyn had largely remained silent for years. Insiders say that resolve only truly began to erode in December.
The breaking point came after Brooklyn and Nicola shared photos of their Christmas spent at her parents’ $95 million Palm Beach mansion — images that also appeared on Nicola’s Instagram account. What followed was a wave of cruel online commentary.
“You married a witch,” one follower wrote. “That’s what you betrayed your family for?” another asked. Many also questioned why Brooklyn wasn’t with his own family, who were more than 4,000 miles away at their Cotswolds home.
What prompted Brooklyn’s tell-all post?
An insider told the Daily Mail that Brooklyn felt the online harassment of his wife Nicola worsened over the festive period.
Sharing stories from his Christmas at his billionaire in-law’s $95 million USD Malibu home, the 26-year-old was inundated with cruel comments about his wife.
Under one of his posts, one follower wrote: “You married a witch,” to which another questioned: “That’s what you betrayed your family for?”
The source explained: “Brooklyn felt Nicola was being targeted unfairly. She was in tears over Christmas.”
Those close to the aspiring chef say that the lack of support from his parents only deepened his frustration, and he grew sick of what the “false narratives” about himself and his wife.
Who wrote the statement?
Brooklyn reportedly drafted his statement over a period of several days, with Nicola offering support during the process.
The most surprising part is that the final version is believed to have been reviewed by legal advisers before publication. I mean, we loved reading it- but who okay’d that?

“Nicola is part of it, for sure,” a second insider told the outlet. “She definitely supports him in this. She is not the one who made the decision [to share the statement]. He did. She didn’t tell him to do it. He decided to. So, you really can’t blame her. This was something between him and them, and he decided it was time to take the nuclear option.”
“Redefining boundaries”
In the days leading up to the post, Brooklyn’s mindset toward his parents allegedly shifted dramatically.
“He doesn’t even refer to [David and Victoria] as parents,” the insider revealed. “He calls them by their first names now.”

According to those close to him, Brooklyn views estrangement as a method of self-preservation.
“He doesn’t think estrangement is a bad thing at all. He sees it as him setting boundaries, taking care of himself, watching out for his own mental health. I know he knows it hurts them, but I don’t think he really cares right about now.”
