Zayn Malik has revealed why Gigi Hadid is the perfect match for him. Offering rare insight into their relationship, the “Like I Would” singer told Elle UK’s September Issue, “She’s super intelligent, I think that’s why it works so well,” adding: “And we do the same type of job so we get that with each other.”
Hadid, 21 and Malik, 23, have been romantically linked since November 2015 and stepped out as an official couple at New York’s Met Gala on May 2. They were photographed in Milan in DATETK for the cover of Vogue and appeared alongside one another in the video for Malik’s debut solo single “Pillowtalk.”
In the Elle interview, Malik also revealed the reason he left boy band One Direction.
“At that time in my life I felt I had done everything I could do there, and I just needed to change it up. It didn’t feel brave,” he said. “I just don’t have it in me to feel fully secure in anything I do. I always strive towards something better. It’s why I think sometimes I come across the wrong way, a bit distant. I’m just stressed out trying to control how I’m perceived. I think about things a lot.”
