While all eyes are on the clothes for Australian Fashion Week (obviously), this year’s runway was proof that the details are in the hair.
With Shark Beauty as the presenting partner of this year’s event, many of the hair looks felt equal parts nostalgic yet contemporary.
From salt-soaked texture to sculptural volume and noughties rebellion, in shows including Hansen & Gretel, Carla Zampatti, Mariam Seddiq, Alix Higgins, and more, three standout hair trends emerged with a distinctly undone Australian ease.
From high-shine styles to undone, bed hair, here are the hottest hair trends from this year’s runway…
Runway ready
First things first, to achieve any of these styles, we recommend using the Shark Beauty Shark Glam 5-in-1 styler for wet and dry hair. With four versatile attachments, this ultra-fast drying tool can help you achieve glossy blow dries, silky straight styles, and voluminous curls with no heat damage*.
*Based on testing done on virgin, untreated hair on the wet-to-dry mode and maximum output temperature of 133 °C in the highest heat mode with the curler tool.

Cool girl shine
If there’s one thing we know, it’s the power of high-shine hair.
For Carla Zampatti’s 27 resort runway, hair was polished and voluminous without feeling overly set. The look centred around silky blow-dries, sweeping fronts and controlled shine.
“We wanted it to feel timeless yet fierce, polished, refined and incredibly confident, without losing softness or movement,” explains Shark Beauty Hair Director, Madison Voloshin.
“Using the Shark Beauty Glam with the concentrator attachment allowed us to create a smooth, controlled blow-dry with natural volume and high shine.”
For this look, blow-dry the hair smooth and use a thickening spray for volume and control before using the Shark Beauty Glam with the concentrator attachment to create a smooth, controlled blow-dry with natural volume and high shine.

Bed-headed bouffants
While bed hair is something most of us try to fight, the Alex Higgins show proved that when recreated with intention, it is genuinely quite chic.
Shark Beauty ambassador and hair director for the Alex Higgins show, Daniel Jianing, says the finish for each model’s look was intentionally matte and lived-in with references to the 1900s Gibson girl bouffants.
While the purpose of a straightener is to flatten these types of styles naturally, Jianing says he used the Shark Glam Multi-Styler and Silki Ceramic Straightener attachment unconventionally to add movement to the hair.
This technique creates soft memory in the hair, so that effortless, irregular curls can be added with the same tool. Then, add texture powders and curl-enhancing sprays to add definition.
Just woke up – still cute, though.

Ocean luxe
If there’s one thing we love, it’s hair that draws inspiration from the sea – especially for a resort collection. And, COMMAS, Hansen and Gretel all agree.
Mermaid-inspired looks that some of us could only dream of achieving – even after a day at the beach reigned supreme with plenty of soft bends, diffused texture, ocean-dried movement

“At Hansen & Gretel, I used the Shark Beauty Glam Tool with the Silki Ceramic Straightener attachment over soft plaits to create subtle, irregular waves that felt organic rather than polished,” says Shark Beauty Hair Director, Madison Voloshin.
“For COMMAS, the Shark Beauty Glam with the diffuser attachment helped refine natural texture while keeping the finish authentic and touchable. The overall effect is polished, but still very real, like the hair has been sitting in the ocean air all day.”
