Along with big sister Kylie, Dannii Minogue is one of the most iconic figures of the Australian music industry, and the songstress, 49, has marked 30 years since her first album with a gorgeous throwback photo of herself.
With her long dark hair loose and gold chains, the throwback photo posted to Instagram shows Dannii in the early nineties and the Masked Singer panellist reflected on how her career took off when she left variety TV show, Young Talent Time.
“I remember leaving Young Talent Time. I didn’t think I’d still get to perform – I thought I’d have to find myself another job. Then Mushroom gave me the opportunity to make an album…,” Dannii mused in her caption.
“I was 17 when I flew to NYC to record ‘Dannii’ and it was the start of the most amazing adventure; not just recording this album, but the incredible journey music has taken me on.
She added: “The most MASSIVE THANK YOU to Mushroom records, to the people who bought my debut album at store signings back in those early days, the fans who have shared their love and support over the years, and those how have discovered ‘Dannii’ only recently through streaming. ‘Dannii’ celebrates its 30th #Danniiversary today.“
Fans loved Dannii’s nineties picture and noted that her 19-year-old self and 49-year-old self are equally as stunning.
“Such a gorgeous photo! And thank you for all the music!” one said.
“You’re still as gorgeous now as you were then Dannii,” penned another.
“The Dannii I fell in love with,” a third mused.
Others thanked the singer turned Masked Singer panellist for her memorable music – particularly her Dannii album.
One sweetly wrote: “I remember the night you left YTT…even though I was crying… I KNEW you’d be back singing in no time. I’ve always said, a life of Minogue – chooses you and I am 34 years in so far. Your music career is the soundtrack to so many of our lives. Thank YOU, Dannii!!! Happy #danniiversary to you and to all our wonderful memories of this iconic time.”
Due to the Masked Singer, Dannii is back in her hometown of Melbourne in lockdown with her 10-year-old son Ethan.
However, the singer came under fire in July when she flew into the country from the US but didn’t isolate in hotel quarantine, and instead spent 14 days at a Gold Coast private residence after the Queensland government granted them an exception due to medical reasons.
Though she adhered to the same rules that apply to hotel quarantine (no one could come and go from the property and she agreed to be tested for coronavirus multiple times) Dannii also didn’t pay the $2800 hotel accommodation bill returning adult travellers must pay under Queensland quarantine laws.
“While we cannot comment on individuals, Queensland Heath has strong arrangements in place whether people are quarantining inside or outside hotels,’’ a spokesperson told 7NEWS at the time.
Mum-of-one Dannii shares son Ethan with her ex partner, Kris Smith.
Kris also has two other children with his current partner Sarah Boulazeris – daughters Mila Elle and Frankie, but never shows Ethan on his social media.
It is believed that the decision was made by the co-parents and that Dannii has requested that Ethan not be shown on social media so he can live a normal life, away from the spotlight.
She doesn’t share images of Ethan on her own social media pages either.
