Home and Away favourite Ray Meagher has launched a fragrance and well I’ll be – it’s a corker.
The much-loved actor who plays the curmudgeonly Alf Stewart has branched out and into the world of beauty. And yes. We’re as stunned as you are.
And before you ask yes, the scent, dubbed Raygrance Number One (which oh lord does seem to suggest there will be more), is fair dinkum.
It comes in a genuinely pretty emerald green flacon. And it smells good too. In fact, I’d absolutely wear it.
But more about Raygrance and how it came to be. Ray, 74, told news.com.au that he was searching for a new project. He had no set ideas – in fact, he was certain of one thing and one thing only – that he ‘wanted to do something different’.
“I didn’t want to do a pie or a sausage roll, so I thought, well, I look like George Clooney and Chris Hemsworth and if those guys can do a fragrance, why can’t I?”
And so Ray made it happen. And the process went a little like this.
Ray gathered a team about him and they started talking scents. What they liked, what they loathed. And then like all professional perfumers they started the arduous process of blending, smelling, testing and doing it all over again.
“There were bits of paper stuck to the wall with all these different smells on them — so I was just walking along smelling the wall,” said Ray.
Eventually the all-important notes were locked down and Raygrance was born. Ray is a serious fan of the end result, describing it as ‘absolutely magnificent’.
I’m not sure I’d go quite that far but it is musky and woody and dare I say, a little bit sexy – if you can get the Alf Stewart connection out of your mind.
Also, it is well priced at just $15 a pop including postage and even more impressive – every cent is being donated to Cure Cancer.
Raygrance can be purchased at the fragrance site which you can reach here.
GoDaddy, the team behind the site, and Ray worked closely together to bring Raygrance to the people and Ray wants regular small business owners to know creating an online presence is easier than they might have imagined.
“It’s important for people to know just how easy it is to build a website for their business,” he says.
“You do not need complex coding know-how to build a professional website.”
Nor do you need any background in fragrance to launch one – or so it would seem.
