False lashes look beautiful but only if they’re applied right.
Getting them right can be tricky however. At least in my experience.
I can’t tell you how many times I’ve attempted to apply them and eventually given up, yanked them off and tossed them aside.
But it turns out if you follow a few simple rules you can apply false lashes so that they look completely natural and 100 per cent beautiful.
Heck – these tips, supplied by Ardell brand manager Lyndall Cortis, are so easy even I can follow them. And to be honest – that’s saying something. So, let’s get stuck in shall we?
Before applying lashes you need to make sure they are the right length. If they’re too long (as many are) you can trim them with a pair of nail scissors, says Lyndall, who recommends you cut from the outer corner. NB: Do this BEFORE you apply them.
Doing it afterwards is not clever (I say this from experience!).
Next step, use a quality lash glue.

Most false lashes are sold with glue, but it’s not always the best quality, says Lyndall.
This means you may need to buy glue separately. On that, consider a glue in a dark tone. This will be harder to spot if you’re planning a smokey eye or wearing a dark eyeshadow.
Try Ardell DUO Glue in Dark Tone, $16.

Don’t rush, says Lyndall.
“In fact, make sure you are being very cautious and let the glue dry properly,” she adds.
Finally, consider a false lash applicator. These are sold anywhere false lashes are found and they make application so much easier – particularly for beginners.
