Pantone’s Colour of the Year 2019 is here and it is … Living Coral.

You know what that means – pretty soon you’re going to be seeing this poppy shade absolutely everywhere; we’re talking walls, furnishings, clothing and makeup too. If you read that and thought ‘That’s cool but um … how exactly?’ then you have come to the right place.

Living Coral beauty tips coming right up.

Living Coral is a perfectly pretty hue but a daunting one when you’re thinking about how to incorporate it into your beauty look.

But here’s the deal. You don’t need to apply it all over if that’s not your thing. Instead, you can simply add this shade here and there. That way you’ll be bang on trend but still be able to wear the makeup you know and love.

The easiest way to do this – apply coral to your nails and toes. See? Easy.

We like Essie Nail Lacquer in Tart Deco, $16.95.

Another dead easy to way get on top of this trend? Rock a killer lipstick in a bold coral or even an orangey-red. Close enough we say!

And also, what a fabulous bold shade to wear. As you can see on Taylor Swift’s perfect pout, an orange-based red lipstick is particularly flattering on blondes with pale skin. Having said that – anyone can wear this shade. We promise.

We recommend Karen Murrell Natural Lipstick in Coral Dawn, $29.95.

Serious beauty lovers might like to step their coral up a notch and apply it to their cheeks.

It sounds tricky, but it’s actually quite simple. Just apply your regular blush in your standard way. Then, apply a hint of coral to the very highest point of the cheeks. This will add a touch of natural flush that will brighten and lift your face.

And we love that. Like, really.

Finally, you might like to consider colouring your locks this sweetly-summery shade.

“Living Coral translates beautifully to hair,” says Ian Michael Black, Aveda Global Artistic Director, Hair Colour.

“It’s a lovely copper with a pink under tone that is warm, inviting and light-hearted.”

Sounds like you? Then time to call the salon and make a booking. And fast. We predict salons will be flat chat colouring hair this shade and you want to get in early if at all possible.
