The Favourite

Hair and makeup artist Nadia Stacey won the 2019 BAFTA for her work in The Favourite starring Olivia Colman, Emma Stone and Rachel Weisz. Working primarily with wigs for the project, Nadia added bows to wigs and sprayed them with pastel chalks to give them a modern twist.

Nadia has also worked on Harry Potter, Downton Abbey and Captain America, as well as the upcoming film, Cruella, starring Emma Stone.

“I used the HASK repairing Deep Conditioning treatment masks a lot on Emma Stone under her wigs in Cruella to keep her hair in the best condition,” Nadia says.

Arguably one of the most iconic bob cuts in cinema, Audrey Tautou’s effortless French-girl hairstyle in the 2001 film Amélie instantly became one of the most emulated styles of the early 2000s.

Inspired by Louise Brooks’ blunt bob in Pandora’s Box (1929), hairstylist Véronique Boitout gave Audrey’s style a modern, less-structured finish.

Pitch Perfect

Anna Kendricks’ personal hairstylist Cheryl Marks worked as Hair Department Head for Pitch Perfect 2 and Pitch Perfect 3, and was responsible for shaping the Barden Bella’s evolved hairstyles.

“As Anna Kendrick’s personal hairstylist, I prepped her hair with HASK Rose Oil & Peach Colour Protection Shampoo,” says Cheryl. “The sulphate-free formula kept her strands super moisturised and vibrant.”

Cheryl’s has also worked with production teams on The Ellen DeGeneres Show and The Voice, where she was nominated for four Emmy’s for ‘Outstanding Hairstyling’.

Breakfast At Tiffany’s

Holly Golightly’s (Audrey Hepburn’s) wardrobe in Breakfast at Tiffany’s cemented the film as one of the most fashion-focused of all-time. But it wasn’t just her Givenchy dresses that women worldwide admired; her beehive pixie cut, backcombed by hairstylist Grazia de Rossi, became an instant icon in its own right.

According to Audrey, the hairstyle’s highlights helped her “get away from that primmer lady look, like nuns and princesses.”

Maleficent

Angelina Jolie’s headpiece in Disney’s Maleficent afforded her instant villainess status. In order to anchor her horns, Angelina’s hair was almost constantly bunned or braided. Set hairstylist Audrey Stern’s priority was to ensure Angelina’s hair and scalp remained properly cared for.

“To prep Angelina Jolie’s hair for long hours in a headpiece, I’d start with the HASK Tea Tree Oil & Rosemary 5-in-1 Leave-In spray,” she says. “This was perfect for nourishing her scalp and it went a long way in rejuvenating the hair whilst wearing a cap for 12 hours straight.”

Oceans 8

Rihanna is known for breaking boundaries, whether it’s with her music, fashion choices or beauty business moves. When the singer was cast as Nine Ball in 2018’s Ocean’s 8, she told her long-term hairstylist Yusef Williams she wanted to wear faux dreadlocks for the role.

“Her locs would maintain that tie to Africa,” he told Refinery29. “She’d keep her accent. She wasn’t just going to be some American girl in this movie. Nine Ball is still a Caribbean girl that just happens to be in America.”

The Morning Show

Since appearing in Friends, Jennifer Anniston’s hair has been a reference point for many women and their hairdressers. Jennifer’s most recent hairstyles in the Emmy-nominated TV series The Morning Show were reminiscent of her iconic ‘The Rachel’ hairstyles: natural, yet polished.

The show’s Hair Department Head Linda Flowers swears by HASK products for achieving Jennifer’s hairstyles. “I can always count on my HASK products to perform the way I need them to,” she says. “Most of my clients are high performing actors and I need haircare that can match them.”

The Hunger Games
HASK
As well as working with Jennifer Anniston, Hairstylist Linda Flowers has worked with Jennifer Lawrence, Gal Gadot, Nicole Kidman and Melissa McCartney. Her biggest mark on Hollywood was her role in the creation of the iconic Katniss Everdeen braid and colourful Effie looks from the Hunger Games franchise.

When creating her looks, Linda turned to the book series for inspiration. “I loved the fact that somebody took the time to make the hair a part of the character and a part of the movie,” she told PopSugar. “For me, that really inspired me to do something somewhat original. The costume designers from both movies also provided inspiration.”
