No matter if you’re taking inspo from Daisy Edgar Jones herself, or even Karen Sirko or Camila Dunne, it’s safe to say the show is capturing the retro vibe perfectly

And whilst we have all been inspired to dress a little 70s, it’s a fine line between 70s-inspired and 70s-costume. So how do you modernise the 70s style for the perfect fit?

WHO spoke to Nicole Adolphe, THE ICONIC’s Head of Style to find out!

“When you think of 70s style you might think of corduroy flared jeans, knit crops, platform heels and suede – but to modernise it, take elements of this trend (like shape or colour), and work it into your look,” Nicole explains.

“What I love about 70s rockstar fashion is that it’s sexy and raw, without necessarily needing to show a lot of skin. A long sleeve, floaty top that’s sheer, or a slip dress worn with a leather jacket and boots is a great nod to the era with a modern twist.”

“Last year in fashion was all about Y2K, but there are elements of 70s fashion that cross over when styled differently. You may already own some of these pieces that can be reworked with a 70s feel: denim, wide-leg or flare jeans, crochet dresses, over-the-knee boots, mini skirts and maxi skirts, tye dye and crop tops. Mix these with some of the key 70s trends of oversize sunnies, platform heels, wrap dresses, jumpsuits, sheer boho tops, a bit of lace, fringing and hoop earrings.”

“To avoid looking ‘fancy dress’, don’t wear all of your 70s pieces at the same time. The modern-day twist is to simply add a piece here and there.”

Below, are four ways to incorporate the best of the 70s into your look.
