Despite being an emotional eater, she managed to turn her life around!

Prue Clubb from Mosman, NSW, lost control of her weight after her dad was diagnosed with motor neurone disease.

“I have always been at the top end of the BMI for my height, and I carry a lot of my weight on my hips, which I don’t love,” says Clubb, 41.

“I’d always been involved in sports but after having kids and with dad’s illness, I fell off the bandwagon and struggled to get back into shape.”

Despite being an emotional eater, “I eat for every emotion – happy, sad, angry, excited,” Clubb managed to turn her weight around by joining Orangetheory Fitness in Mosman.

“Before joining Orangetheory, I didn’t quite know where to start, how to do it, or where to get the support I needed. I was feeling uncomfortable in my own skin and didn’t feel as though any of my clothes were fitting as they should.

“I was so unfit when I first started and was worried that everyone else was going to be fitter, faster and stronger than me. And you know what? They were!” says Clubb, but she didn’t let that stop her.

“It didn’t matter in the slightest. They all encouraged me to do my best and to improve my results in my time. Just as they are focusing on their own results.”

In order to reach her goal weight, Clubb broke it down into small chunks and focused on her results along the way. “I celebrated each of the smaller goals with a mini shopping expedition and that way the long-term goal didn’t seem so unachievable.”

Today, after losing 25kg, Clubb is full of energy and feels great.

“I used to spend so much of my day thinking, ‘Should I eat that?’ … ‘I shouldn’t have eaten that’ … ‘I should exercise more’ … ‘I should have gone for a walk this morning’ … These thoughts just don’t enter my mind anymore – it’s so refreshing and my anxiety has reduced immensely.”
