1. Jenna Ortega took cello, fencing, archery, and German lessons for the role.
To prepare for the role of Wednesday, Ortega took numerous non-acting lessons. Wednesday’s featured cello skills are a product of Jenna’s consistent lessons, which commenced two months before filming.
2. The truth about Thing.
While people can marvel at the incredible bodiless hand that is Thing, it might be hard to believe that this character is not the work of CGI. The actor and magician by trade, Victor Dorobantu, was present in all his scenes. Dressed in a blue bodysuit for ease of VFX removal, Dorobantu would crawl under floors, behind walls, and even squat beside Ortega to use his prosthetically-enhanced hand.
3. Jenna Ortega and Christina Ricci never talked about playing Wednesday.
In an interview with Teen Vogue, Ortega revealed that she never spoke about the role with its original actor (and portrayer of Miss Thornhill), Christina Ricci.
“We both were able to appreciate the fact they were going to be different. I didn’t want to knock her off and I didn’t want to be doing some impression of her,” she said.
4. The series was filmed in Romania.
The town of Jericho was actually built by the production team in Romania. Over the course of eight months, the crew operated solely from their international filming location, where the original set was custom-made.
5. Jenna Ortega was not a fan of the ‘love triangle’ trope.

Jenna has expressed her disdain for the love triangle trope in the series.
“Honestly, I think boys are the last thing on Wednesday’s mind,” she said in an interview with Etalk.
While romance was interwoven into the first season, the actress hopes the second season will stray away from this theme.
6. Jenna was covered in blood during her Wednesday audition.
On the back of filming A24’s horror movie, X, Jenna Zoomed in mid-production to audition for the role of Wednesday. It just so happens that she was covered in fake blood from her scene prior!
7. Wednesday doesn’t blink in any of her scenes.
After a take in which she didn’t blink, acclaimed director, Tim Burton, immediately took a liking to Jenna’s acting take. From then on, he told her not to blink in any of her future scenes. Wednesday’s un-blinking composure is a trademark feature of the Netflix series.
8. Ortega choreographed her own dance sequence.

Wednesday’s hypnotising dance sequence has made the rounds on the internet. But did you know Ortega herself choreographed it? The actress took inspiration from the likes of Bob Fosse and Siouxsie Sioux to compose her Goo Goo Muck number.
9. Emma Myers, who plays Enid, went to Werewolf Bootcamp.
To prepare for her role, Myers went to the stunt gym every morning she wasn’t filming. In an interview with Seventeen, she also revealed that she participated in a ‘werewolf bootcamp’.
“I did, like, a werewolf bootcamp for four hours one time where it was me and a couple other guys crawling around on the floor and growling at each other… That was weird,” Myers said.
10. The show shot on 70 locations.
Wednesday was shot across 70 locations and six sound stages. In one of their filming locations, the Addams Family car, the vehicle itself was built from two separate cars and positioned on a downwards slant on the driver’s side to make Lurch appear bigger.
