For victims, survivors and their families, the days following a traumatic event can be overwhelming. Medical bills, time off work, and funeral costs are a huge stress on those already facing grief.

Consider donating to established community funds or charities created to support those impacted If you’re in the position. Even small contributions, when combined, can provide much-needed relief and show families they are not facing this alone.

You don’t need to make a public gesture to make a difference. Simple acts matter:

  • Check in on friends or neighbours who live nearby or may have been affected.
  • Offer childcare, meals, or transport for those attending hospital visits or memorials.
  • Encourage those struggling to seek professional help, and remind them that needing support is not a weakness.

Donate blood

In the wake of mass casualty events, supplies of blood can run dangerously low. If you are healthy and able, making a blood donation is a practical, lifesaving step you can take.

Even if your donation is not used immediately for this incident, it helps maintain critical reserves for ongoing medical care and future emergencies.

Stand against hate

If you can’t attend in person, sharing messages of support can be equally meaningful.
