Married At First sight star Lauren Huntriss has revealed shocking images taken when she had a skin cancer scare in her 20s.
The now 31-year-old shared via Instagram graphic photos, including a post-surgery snap of a growth on her nose plus a particularly gruesome snap after doctors removed the cancerous growth.
The reality star explained she first thought the growth was merely a pimple.
‘The dermatologist noticed this spot on my nose… results came back and guess what?.. it was a skin cancer!’ the makeup artist revealed.
‘”But I’m only 27!” I said at the time.’
Lauren was advised to have the growth removed as soon as possible before it spread any further.
She explained that she opted for Mohs surgery – a technique whereby the skin is removed layer by layer to find out whether the cancer has been removed.
After that, a doctor performed flap repair surgery to rebuild Lauren’s nose.
‘I remember crying so much but then thinking far out I’m lucky I caught it when I did,’ she said.
‘Kids, adults – if you notice even the slightest change to your skin book in with a dermatologist ASAP! Don’t risk it, don’t wait or it may be too late,’ she wrote.
Lauren’s cancer scare comes just one week after she revealed pictures of the emotional body battles she has suffered over the years.
“I’ve been chubby … I’ve been skinny … I’ve had a six pack,” she shared.
She explained that her physique has changed over time due to factors such as mental health, medication, chronic pain – as well as painful past relationships.
“There have been times I chose not to eat because a boy told me I was too fat,” Lauren said in the candid post.
