Royal expert, Victoria Arbiter reveals the couple may well be looking at royal names from through history, with Elizabeth and Diana for a girl and Charles and Philip for a boy already strong contenders for middle names. Arbiter also went on to highlight several other names which could be given to the new baby.

“Naming a baby is a tricky business for parents the world over. There’s enormous pressure in choosing a moniker that will stand the test of time,” she told 9Honey.

“One has to consider how it might be shortened or whether it might mean something risque in urban slang.

“The task comes with an added burden for members of the Royal Family.

“They have to consider their offspring’s future role and their place in history.

“Those with titles usually choose names which offer a sense of stability and continuity.”

For a girl, Alexandra which is the Queen’s middle name and named after her great-grandmother Edward VII’s consort, Queen Alexandra.

Alexandrina is also a contender after it was the first name given to Queen Victoria.

Queen Victoria’s second daughter Alice was a huge patron of women’s causes possibly making her name popular with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

Alexander the Great which loosely translate to “Defender of the People” could be an option for a boy.

The name Albert may be chosen as it is one of Prince Harry’s middle names and the name of Princess Diana’s grandfather.

Ms Arbiter added: “It will also be a name for the history books as the Royal Family prepares to welcome its first child of mixed-race heritage.

“For what it’s worth, I’m going with a girl. Alice and Alexandra might be the odds on favourites, but Lady Rose Elizabeth Diana, works for me but I wouldn’t put any money on it just yet!”
