Mel B may have a lot to look forward to with her Spice Girls reunion tour on the agenda, but the singer is speaking out the battles that she faced before this happier, healthier time.
Starting with her drug binges that she relied on to deal with her martial problems.
In her autobiography Brutally Honest, which can be read in The Sun on Sunday, the 43-year-old writes about trying to take her own life by consuming nearly 200 painkillers.
It was 2014, and she was a judge on X Factor.
She recounted, “I was a sad, pathetic person. I was out of control. I was probably taking five or six lines [of cocaine] a day before and after work.”
“It numbed my pain. It lifted me up enough to be ready to fire on all cylinders and forget about everything but the show.”
She continued, “I was so low that two weeks into filming The X Factor I’d started using cocaine to get me through the run of the show. To get me through living with Stephen, which felt like neurotic claustrophobia.”
The singer was on the UK panel with Simon Cowell, Louis Walsh and Cheryl – and says she never took substances during the show.
The singer and her ex married in 2007 before divorcing in December last year.
