Will there be a Peaky Blinders spin-off?
In *major* news for Peaky Blinders fans, the franchise is set to make a huge comeback, with series slated to return for both a movie and TV series.
First dropping the news to Radio Times in December 2023, Steven provided an update on the new Peaky Blinders film, telling the publication, “I’m just working on the final bits of it at the moment.”
Over a year later, it was confirmed that the latest instalment of the Shelby saga officially wrapped production in December 2024, and although the exact details of the plot have not yet been revealed, it is believed that the new spin-off will take place in Boston in the mid-20th century.
While news of the film, officially titled The Immortal Man, may have already been exciting enough for fans, the franchise has also been rumoured to return for a seventh season.
Teasing the potential reboot, production insiders told The Sun, “The sixth series was supposed to be the last, and the movie was meant to be the final farewell to the story, but show boss Steven Knight couldn’t resist coming back to the story – his most famous creation – and he’s been dropping hints he wanted to return to do more.”
Additionally, the source also revealed that Season 7 has reportedly “been officially greenlit by the Beeb [BBC] and wheels are in motion on pre-production,” with the crew set to commence production in September 2025.

Will Cillian Murphy be in the Peaky Blinders movie?
For fans of the original series’ protagonist, we have good news! Cillian Murphy has been confirmed to be reprising his role as Thomas Shelby in the upcoming Peaky Blinders movie, The Immortal Man.
Speaking to Birmingham World in March 2024, creator Steven revealed that Cillian “definitely is returning” for the highly anticipated feature film.
With the buzz surrounding the announcement still at a high, Netflix shared the first glimpse of Thomas Shelby on set in September 2024, with the streaming giant confirming that filming had since commenced in the Digbeth area of central Birmingham, England.
News of Cillian’s return to the franchise came just over three months after he initially revealed that he would be open to reprising his role as the ringleader of Shelby Company Ltd.
“I’m totally open to the idea, but I also do think that it was a kind of perfect six seasons… It’s sometimes hard to move into the film format, and I do like the ambiguity of the ending, but I’m always open to a great script. Who wouldn’t be?” he told Variety.

Will there be a new Peaky Blinders show?
While there is not a great deal of information on the upcoming spin-off series, according to Bloomberg, the new Peaky Blinders series will reportedly explore the world of Shelby family matriarch Polly Gray.
Following the passing of actor Helen McCrory ahead of the final season, the news of a Peaky Blinders series dedicated to Polly is bittersweet to many fans who sadly mourned her absence during the final instalment of the fan-favourite series.
Given that the new spin-off film is set after the events of the original series, fans have speculated that the upcoming spin-off series will be a prequel to the Shelby family storyline and will focus on Polly’s youth.
In addition to a Polly-based prequel, it has also been rumoured that the upcoming series would follow on from the original franchise, with The Sun reporting that the upcoming series may move the Birmingham-based gang to 1950s London during the height of the Teddy Boy era and the rise of real-life East London gangsters, the Kray twins.
