Nina Dobrev and Shaun White have called off their engagement and broken up.
A source has told People, who first reported the news, “It was a mutual decision, and wasn’t an easy one, but it was made with love and a deep respect for one another.”
Nina, best known for The Vampire Diaries, and Shaun, a champion snowboarder, first met in late 2019.
They both attended a workshop organised by motivational speaker Tony Robbins and sparks between the two flew.
Nina and Shaun went for dinner together that night and quickly started dating.
The couple didn’t publicly confirm their relationship though until April 2020.
On May 19, 2022, Nina and Shaun made their red carpet debut at the London premiere of Top Gun: Maverick – looking incredibly loved up.
Flashforward two years, and the actress and snowboarder both shared that they’d gotten engaged on October 30, 2024 via Instagram.
“She said YES,” Shaun’s caption read while Nina’s said, “RIP boyfriend, hello fiancé.”
Nina and Shaun were last spotted together on August 31, 2025 – they were in Los Angeles, smiling and holding hands while running errands.
But Nina appeared solo at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 7, 2025 – and she wasn’t wearing her engagement ring.
