Oh, it just keeps getting better. Guzman y Gomez is dropping a new filling, and unlike other flavours that have flirted with us and then disappeared, this one is here to stay.

From October 14, BBQ beef rib will be available across all lunch and dinner meals, with everything from their quesadillas to their burritos and tacos.

“This is the biggest launch we’ve ever done,” GYG Founder and Co-CEO Steven Marks said. “We haven’t added a filling in 5 years because it had to be right.

“Deep, rich, juicy. Beef like this belongs on everything on our menu!”

The new BBQ beef rib is made from Australian short rib, seasoned with salt before cooked for five hours until tender.

It’s finished in a hot pan in the restaurant to give the meat a golden, lightly charred crust before GYG’s signature chipotle BBQ sauce is added for a sweet and smoky flavour.

“We started with nothing but salt, because the beef is good enough to stand on its own,” GYG Director of Culinary Nate Appleman said. He’s an award-winning chef who trained as a butcher in Italy and knows his beef.

“Then we built it up: five hours low and slow until it’s tender and then into a hot pan in restaurant for a golden, crisp-edged crust, and Chipotle BBQ sauce on top for a rich, smoky finish.”

The new filling is here to stay

The BBQ beef rib will be a permanent addition to the menu and will be available everywhere, from dine in to takeaway through to Uber Eats.

It costs $2.50 extra on a regular-sized meal, $1.30 on a mini and 80 cents on a taco.

So you think you have your GYG order remembered by heart? Think again. This might just shake things up for you. Enjoy!
