Alexis Arquette’s cause of death has been confirmed.
The 47-year-old transgender actress’ death certificate, obtained by E! News, notes a heart attack as the immediate cause of death.
E! also confirmed that the famous sibling of David and Patricia Arquette had suffered from a bacterial infection of the heart three weeks before her death on September 11.
The certificate also states that HIV was an underlying cause of death, something which Arquette was living with for 29 years.
Alexis’ brother Richmond Arquette confirmed the news of the actress’ death page earlier this month.
“Our brother Robert, who became our brother Alexis, who became our sister Alexis, passed this morning September 11 at 12:32 a.m,” he wrote on Facebook.
“He was surrounded by all of his brothers and sisters, and one of his nieces and several other loved ones…As per his wishes, we cheered at the moment that he transitioned to another dimension.”
The LGBT activist was surrounded by her family when she passed away at Los Angeles Cedars-Sinai hospital.
