Is Hilary Duff married?
Hilary Duff has been married to 36-year-old musician Matthew Koma since December 2019.
The couple first crossed paths in early 2012 while working on Hilary’s album Breathe In. Breathe Out. Speaking on her first impression of her future husband, Hilary told Vogue in 2019, “There wasn’t an instant spark because I think when you’re walking into a professional meeting, you know nothing about the other person… When we started talking about music, things started sparking.”
After confirming their romance in January 2017, Hilary and Matthew split briefly just over two months later before rekindling their connection in late 2017. “This is third time that we’ve dated… Timing is such a big deal. Third time’s a charm!” Hilary told The Talk at the time.
In May 2019, Hilary and Matthew announced their engagement, with Hilary sharing the exciting news to Instagram with the caption, “He asked me to be his wife.”
Reflecting on her engagement story, Hilary shared that Matthew proposed with a notebook full of illustrations about their love story while on a walk through a park in New York City.
“I get to the very last page, and there’s a little piece that I have to lift up and my ring was inside. It was so sweet. It was really special and really simple, which is very much how we are and how we operate. Then it started raining, and it was perfect,” she told Vogue.
Hilary and Matthew tied the knot in December 2019 in a low-key Christmas-time ceremony at their Los Angeles home. “The ceremony started at sunset and they got married inside the house. When the ceremony was over, guests cheered. The reception was in a white tent in the backyard,” a source told People at the time.

Speaking on an episode of The Motherly Podcast in 2019, Hilary opened up about her experience becoming a young mother at 24.
“I did feel like after I had him, I lost a big chunk of my identity for maybe the first year and a half,” she shared, adding, “Once you do find yourself again, you have the biggest thing under your belt that nobody can take away from you and you’re so confident.”
Hilary shares her son Luca with her ex-husband Mike Comrie, with the couple announcing their divorce after six years of marriage in 2016.

Born October 25, 2018, Banks Violet is Hilary’s first child with husband Matthew Koma.
“This little bit has fully stolen our hearts! She joined our world at home on Thursday afternoon and is absolute magic,” Hilary wrote to Instagram following her daughter’s birth.
Speaking on the bond between Banks and her eldest son Luca, Hilary told PureWow in 2020, “It’s a chemical reaction between siblings sometimes where he knows he has to protect her.”

Hilary and Matthew welcomed the arrival of their daughter Mae on March 24, 2021.
To celebrate her first birthday, Hilary shared an adorable tribute to her youngest daughter on Instagram, writing, “This family loves you so much! What a fun/crazy/tiring year it has been! I truly enjoy you being my little barnacle … your face, with those big eyes, just amaze me … It’s especially cute and you know it!!”

Townes Meadow Bair
Hilary and Matthew celebrated the arrival of their fourth child, daughter Townes Meadow Bair, on May 3, 2024.
Sharing the news on social media, Hilary wrote, “I have been dreaming of holding you in my arms for months and the past five days of getting to know you, stare at you, and smell you has been pure moments of magic. We all love you like you’ve been here all along beauty.”
