Singers Katy Perry and John Mayer engaged in an off-and-on relationship which ultimately ended in 2014.
In the year and a half that they dated, it was reported that they broke up in August 2012, in March 2013 and in February 2014. Yes, three times!
The couple even sparked engagement rumours a few times, with Katy sporting three different diamond rings on that finger during their relationship.
However, an engagement was never confirmed, and details on why they broke up were never really given.

Katy Perry and John Mayer duets
John Mayer and Katy Perry released a song together in August 2013 titled ‘Who You Love’, a soft pop ballad about falling in love.
“I’ve been such a fan, I think he’s so incredibly talented and gifted and a genius songwriter,” Katy told E! News about their song collaboration at the time. “So to be a part of anything he was doing was just natural.”
John Mayer songs about Katy Perry
John Mayer has confirmed that he wrote his 2017 song ‘Still Feel Like Your Man’ about ex Katy Perry.
“Who else would I be thinking about?” he told The New York Times, referring to Katy being the meaning of the song.“And by the way, it’s a testament to the fact that I have not dated a lot of people in the last five, six years,” he said. “That was my only relationship. So it’s like, give me this, people.”
Here’s just one stand-out line from the lyrics that proves John really did love Katy: “I still keep your shampoo in my shower, in case you wanna wash your hair. And I know that you probably found yourself someone somewhere. But I do not really care.”

Katy Perry songs about John Mayer
In June 2017 Katy Perry released her album Witness, with fans thinking many of the songs contained lyrics about John Mayer.
One of the songs is ‘Save As Draft’, with some fans even going directly to John on Twitter to ask if he was the inspiration behind the song.
Katy sings about a former love, and contemplating getting back in touch with him.” I write is/ Erase it/ Repeat it/ But what good will it do to re-open the wound?/ So I take a deep breath and I save as draft.”
The song could be about John because he is an active Twitter user and has used the phrase ‘save as draft’ on the app before.

Team Katy or Team John?
Do we have to pick a side?! To be honest, we love the song they recorded when they were together and the ones they released after their break up. It’s win-win, kind of?
