Meghan Markle is being slammed after making a major cock-up with her collaboration with British Vogue

WATCH: Why Meghan Markle needs ‘to be careful’ over Vogue edition

The Duchess was the guest editor of the September issue of the revered fashion magazine.

In fact, she made history as the first person to guest edit the September issue in 103 years, so it wasn’t an honour to be taken lightly.

However, Meghan, 37, has been criticised for who she chose as the 15 women of influence for her ‘Forces of Change’ issue – and who she left out.

In her edition – which was led by the publication’s editor-in-chief, Edward Enninful – the Duchess of Sussex included actress Jane Fonda, 81, and climate change campaigner Greta Thunberg, 16, among other notable figures.

However she’s been slammed for leaving Queen Elizabeth II out of the lineup.

She’s also been accused of stepping into politics – something the British royals must never do – by including New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ahern on the cover, and by interviewing America’s ex First Lady, Michelle Obama.

She’s even received backlash around the design of the cover.

According to Radar Onlinethe former Suits star wrote an essay for The Game Changers by Samantha Brett and Steph Adams three years ago – and the ‘Forces for Change’ magazine cover she began working on seven months ago has a spookily similar design!

“It’s obviously very flattering, she obviously likes our concept!” Samantha told Daily Mail Australia.

“I love Meghan and am a huge fan, but if what people are alerting us to is true, then it’s extremely disappointing.”

But it’s not all bad news for Meghan.

Photographer Peter Lindbergh has revealed she had a specific request for him when he was shooting the cover stars.

“My instructions from the duchess were clear: ‘I want to see freckles!'” Peter told the magazine, noting he spoke to the Duchess of Sussex over the phone on the morning of the New York shoot.

“Well, that was like running through open doors for me. I love freckles.”

Meghan wanted to let the stars’ natural beauty shine through.
