The esteemed designer created a Go Fund Me page in the hopes of raising $250,000 to pay for his recovery costs.

In a post called ‘Sh*t got real’, Single pens an open letter to his fans.

He starts off by retelling the story of what happened.

“Everything you have heard is true,” he says.

“I fell 3 floors (35metres) out of my hotel room in Paris, did a sumersault and landed on my feet which saved my spine and my brain (a miracle says the doctor, 1 in 100 million chance)

I did however shatter every bone from my feet to my hips and pelvis.

I have been in a coma for two weeks, had 8 operations and am covered in pins and bolts in my bones.

I cannot use my legs for another month or two so will be in a rehab centre in Paris recovering.”

He goes on to claim that the experience gave him a “second lease at life” as he is “SO grateful, inspired and excited to be back soon.”

Single then invited his fans to a fundraising dinner in Sydney in early May and he urged those who can’t make it to donate via the Go Fund Me page.

He states that all funds raised will go towards his “hospital bill, rehab bill, early flights home, being unable to make bread and work over the next months and all the incedentals the family is covering at the moment.”
