Demi Lovato has hit back at a nasty Twitter troll suggesting she needs to lose weight.

The 26-year-old mental health activist was recently tagged in a paparazzi photo of herself leaving the gym in workout gear. The awful user captioned the post, “Hey Demi dm me so we can discuss a diet plan for you @ddlovato.”

After hundreds of eagle-eyed followers rushed to her defence, Demi responded to the body shaming troll in the best way possible.

“I actually am choosing not to diet and fall back into unhealthy behaviours at the risk of losing my sanity or mental health but thank you for the offer! Super sweet,” the “Sorry Not Sorry” singer wrote.

Arguably one of the most honest celebrities we’ve seen to date, Demi has long been open about her struggles with bulimia, bipolar, depression and maintaining her sobriety. She’s spoken in depth about her eating disorder and even admitted in her documentary, Simply Complicated, that food “is still the biggest challenge in my life”.

In 2018 Demi entered rehab as an 18-year-old after telling the world she’d been self-harming and self-medicating with drugs and alcohol. During her stint in rehab, she was diagnosed with bipolar and continued to live in a sober house while recovering.

In June last year, the beloved pop star unexpectedly released a powerful song titled, “Sober”. The ballad was her way of telling the world she’d relapsed after six years of sobriety. One month later, the former Disney star suffered a near-fatal overdose and entered rehab after spending two weeks in the hospital. Following her brief hiatus, she returned to the spotlight looking happier and healthier than ever.

After signing with talent manager Scooter Braun— who’s currently embroiled in a bitter feud with singer Taylor Swift over music ownership— the hitmaker revealed last week she’s working on a new album which will tell her side of the story.

“You know what’s great about making an album?’ she told her followers. “You get to say anything you want, be as open and honest as possible and finally tell your side of the story regardless of who might not like it..”
