Kit Harrington is mourning the loss of the show that catapulted him into stardom.
Working on the award-winning HBO series for almost a decade, Harington— who plays Jon Snow in ‘Game of Thrones’— reveals that during the cast’s second table reading for its final installment, he couldn’t contain his emotions.
“The second time [I cried] was the very end,” he says, referring to the last page of episode six. “Every season, you read at the end of the last script ‘end of season one’ or ‘end of season two’. This read: end of ‘Game of Thrones’.“
Not surprisingly, Harington isn’t the only star who is struggling to come to terms with the most expensive (and most loved) show coming to a close. British actress Sophie Turner, who plays Sansa Stark in the fantasy series, told Fairfax Media the feeling was bittersweet.
“I feel very emotional about it, it’s my family, my friends, my loves, I will be losing a huge part of my life,” she said. “It feels like a death in the family.”
With emotions running high, it’s little wonder Emilia Clarke also paid homage to the series by getting a tattoo of three dragons.
The actress says they represent ‘her babies’ Dragon, Rhaegal and Viserion. The fan-favourite posted a photo on Instagram, captioning it: “MOD 4 LYFE!!!!🔥 Made sure this mamma ain’t NEVER forgetting her babies….”
When asked by Entertainment Weekly how Clarke feels about filming the final series, she said: “Everything feels more intense. I had a scene with someone and I turned to him and said, ‘Oh my God, I’m not going to do this ever again,’ and that brings tears to my eyes.”
