Last night’s MAFS Commitment Ceremony on March 8 has left fans stunned after more than one unexpected twist. On top of intruder groom Tyson’s bombshell exit, MAFS loyalists are all still talking about Joel and Juliette, or rather why in the world Juliette decided to stay…and keep Joel with her??

After some honesty from Joel on the couch about the reality of their tumultuous relationship so far, Juliette entered the Commitment Ceremony determined to receive an “apology” from Joel, without any intention of offering one herself.

In the end, after a half-hearted apology – if we can even call it that – and her behaviour being called “ugly” and “vile” by the experts, Juliette still chose to stay in the experiment, leaving Joel and fans alike stunned after all her behaviour pointed to the pair parting ways.

Joel told WHO about how he was feeling before, during, and after his time on the couch, and it’s safe to say that Joel was just as shocked by Juliette’s decision as the rest of us, but admitted he had to simply “accept” it.

Joel was ‘in knots’ before the Commitment Ceremony

This intruder couple has had a rocky start to the experiment. Juliette has made it blazingly clear that she is “icked out” by Joel and his supposed “devil eyes”, shocking fans with her “bullying” behaviour at the show’s fourth dinner party, despite no retaliation or prompting from Joel.

Speaking to WHO, Joel described how he “was absolutely in knots” on the day of the Commitment Ceremony.

While Joel didn’t confirm whether he wrote ‘stay’ or ‘leave’ on his card (and viewers weren’t shown in the episode either), he did allude to the fact he needed to be “true” to himself, despite being eager to remain in the experiment.

“I was a little sick in my stomach,” he told WHO. “Because on one hand, I wanted to stay on the show, and on the second hand, I couldn’t lie. I had to be true to myself.”

In the end, Joel’s “tough decision” didn’t matter as Juliette made jaws drop after revealing her decision to stay in the experiment.

This has left everyone asked the same question: why?

Fans are shocked by Juliette’s decision to stay in the experiment

After all the offense and “disgust” Juliette has spoken about having for her groom, she still chose to stay.

This has fans questioning why Juliette entered the experiment in the first place.

“From someone claiming that Joel isn’t there for the right reasons, I don’t understand why Juliette would choose to stay if not for clout & more air time,” one fan said. “Projection … maybe?”

“What is wrong with Juliette? Staying? She wants to be the star of the show?,” another user commented.

It turns out Joel was equally as shocked by the decision, if his widened eyes weren’t enough of a clue.

When it came to their decision time, Joel told WHO that he “realised that [he] had to accept whatever consequences would come [his] way.”

As it turned out, one of the “consequences” of this Commitment Ceremony decision is this groom having to stay another week with a bride who may or may not decide to treat him better.

Maybe we will see Juliette redeem herself, and her relationship with Joel. However, at the moment fans are not holding out hope, and wishing Joel ‘Godspeed’ for the week ahead.

At least he’ll have his “best mate” Danny, as he told WHO, to stand up for him if tensions boil over again at the infamous couples retreat.
