Is MAFS bride Juliette using ‘TikTok’ language to confuse Joel (and everyone else)?

The latest dinner party was explosive and Juliette was at the centre of the drama.

This season of Married at First Sight seems to be riding that ‘villain edit’ high with tirades and tantrums exploding more so than usual for the reality tv hit, especially at the infamous dinner parties. While intruder bride Juliette may be “icked out” by her husband Joel, it looks like fans are “icked out” by her use of “TikTok brainrot” to communicate her feelings, or rather mock her husband.

On Wednesday night, March 4, the bride exploded, accusing Joel of being a “liar” and outing the fact that he still owns a teddy bear to the group (“Justice for Teddy!”).

MAFS fans were not only disappointed in her behaviour, describing it as “mean” and unnecessary, but also in her language and the way she communicated her obvious distaste for Joel.

Fans are over hearing ‘TikTok’ language on MAFS

As Juliette shamed Joel for some of his weird quirks that have apparently spun her into a spiral, she used words and phrases we so often see on Instagram or TikTok comment threads and captions.

From “it gives devil” (referring to Joel’s apparent “devil eyes” that she couldn’t bear looking into), to declaring that he is “so cringe”, the language Juliette has been using has resulted in fans calling her “immature.”

“Juliette’s hole personality is that she listens to Charlie XCX and speaks like a walking TikTok,” one user commented.

“Juliette’s whole vocabulary is regurgitated tiktok brainrot words,” another MAFS fan commented online.

While there’s nothing wrong with using this kind of language in day-to-day life, particularly since it is so accessible to younger generations and communities formed online, fans are fed up with the fact that it seems to be weaponised by Juliette to express her explosive behaviour.

Language that initially helped people express their emotions and connect online has now become something that is embarrassing and juvenile to use, some fans say.

Can we expect an apology from Juliette?

On Stan’s After the Dinner Party episode on Wednesday night, fans were disappointed once again by a half-hearted, or rather non-existent, apology.

Juliette claimed she “misremembered” what Joel had said to her about the “star in [him]”, and fans now believe she’s hiding behind this excuse.

So, the question still remains, will we get an apology from Juliette, or a “Runaway Bride” 2.0 (or would this make it 3.0…)?

Nevertheless, for Juliette, perhaps the next words she should be saying are simply, “I’m sorry”.
